ABOUT LAW AUDIENCE:

Law Audience® is an online legal platform which is aimed at spreading the legal education and other opportunities related to the field of law among the legal audience as much as possible. It was introduced on the 25th of June 2018. It is a ‘Dream Project’ of Mr. Varun Kumar (Founder-CEO-Editor-In-Chief-Publisher). The main motive of this platform is to set new trends in the field of legal education by organising various Seminars, Online Competitions, Conferences, Workshops, Call for Papers, Online Webinars and Online Quizzes. In order to promote the legal research work among the legal fraternity, Law Audience introduced an online law journal titled as Law Audience Journal (ISSN (O): 2581-6705), an ISSN number was assigned to the journal on the 16th of October 2018 and the journal published its 1st Issue in the month of August 2018.

ABOUT WEBINAR:

The advent of modern international law witnessed the parallel growth of international humanitarian law or Law or war, the Geneva and The Hague rules regulate the conduct of modern warfare. Despite several regulations in place modern International Humanitarian Law is fraught with controversies, which include inter alia,

  1. Overlapping regime of human rights law and humanitarian law
  2. Shift in the subject matter from state to individual.
  3. Rise in technology and the simultaneous evolution of International Law. 

This talk will addressed some of these on-going challenges and the possible course correction.

ABOUT SPEAKER:

Mr. Atul Alexander

Mr. Alexander completed his LLB (hons) from school of excellence in Law and LLM from Tamilnadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University; he was a gold medallist and university topper both at LLB and LLM.  Mr Atul Alexander is presently Assistant Professor of Law at West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS). Mr Atul Alexander is also selected as a visiting research scholar at the prestigious Stockholm Center for International Law, U.S  Naval War College, United States. Mr. Atul Alexander has written extensively on International Law and some of his works were cited by the NewYork Times, South China Morning Post etc. 

Further, he has judged several prestigious moot court competitions which include the Jessup Indonesia and Egypt national rounds and Stetson India rounds quarter-finals, Herbert Smith Freehills corporate law moot etc. He has authored a chapter for class 12 CBSE legal studies (international Law) EBC publication. He has also participated in International conferences in Indonesia, Philippines, and China etc to name some. 

Currently Mr. Atul Alexander is part of a major research project on the “Collaborative Engagement for Research, Training and Developing in Handling of Chemical and Hazardous Waste” eastern region partner; the project is undertaken in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) and National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore. Mr Atul Alexander is presently pursuing his PhD on the topic “The Concept of Peremptory Norm in General International Law”.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS/TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  • The webinar will be conducted with proper safeguards from our side;
  • All the registered participants will receive the Meeting Invitation link in the WhatsApp Group before 10 Minutes, i.e., 9:50 AM on 15th of June 2020. After receiving the Meeting Link you can join and wait in the Waiting Room for 10 minutes. We’ll admit all the participants in the Meeting exactly at 10:00 AM.
  • The meeting will be locked at 10:15 AM and no one will be allowed to join the meetings after 10:15 AM. If you fail to join the meeting within the given time limit then it’s your fault not ours. No query regarding the same will be entertained.  
  • While joining the meeting you must enter the same name as mentioned in the Registration form otherwise you’ll be removed from the meeting.    
  • The participants are requested to maintain the dignity of the webinar session;
  • The participants will be muted upon entry;
  • The video of all the participants will be turned off upon entry but participants can change this during the meeting.
  • If you choose to turn on your video during the meeting then make sure that you behave in good manner. You must be seated in good posture & must be well dressed.  If we found you sitting in an inappropriate manner such as lying on bed etc, then we’ll remove you from the meeting immediately and will report to Zoom also.
  • At the end of the webinar you can ask your questions by commenting in the Chat Box or by using raise your hand option from the Zoom Application itself. If you raise your hand then we’ll unmute to ask your question.
  • If you misbehave during the meeting with the Speaker or Host or with any attendee then strict action will be taken against you as per the law for the time being in force.
