“RULES & REGULATIONS FOR LAW AUDIENCE’S NATIONAL ONLINE ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION ON LEGAL ISSUES 2019”

I. ABOUT LAW AUDIENCE:

Law Audience® (registered trademark) is an online legal platform which is aimed at spreading the legal education and other opportunities related to the field of law among the legal audience as much as possible. It was introduced on the 25th of June 2018. The main motive of this platform is to set new trends in the legal field of legal education by organising various Seminars, Online Competitions, Conferences, Workshops and Online Quizzes.

In order to promote the legal research work among the legal fraternity, Law Audience has launched an online law journal titled Law Audience Journal (ISSN (O): 2581-6705), an ISSN number was assigned to the journal on the 16th of October 2018 and the journal published its 1st Issue in the month of August 2018.  As of now the Journal has published more than 50 Research Papers (Free of Cost).

II. THEMES:

This competition is aimed at making the people aware of the legal issues prevailing within the country. The participants can write an essay on the themes mentioned below.

MAIN THEMES:

  1. Economic Reservation (The Constitution (One Hundred And Third Amendment) Act, 2019).
  2. Re-Promulgation of Ordinance Fraud on The Constitution?
  3. The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019.
  4. The Registration of Marriage of Non-Resident Indian Bill, 2019.
  5. Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.
  6. Decriminalization of Adultery Will Endanger The Institution of Marriage?
  7. Ayodhya Dispute.
  8. Mob-Lynching.
  9. Marital Rape.

III. ELIGIBILITY:

  1. This competition is open for Law Students only. At present students/participants must be pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Law, i.e., 3-year LL.B. Course or 5-year LL.B from any recognized college or university or pursuing LL.M from any recognized university.
  2. In one team, not more than 2 participants are allowed. But, however, participants may seek Individual or Single participation. In one team, participants from different universities or schools or colleges are allowed.
  3. Any Law College or Law University can send any number of entries. There is no restriction on the number of entries from any college or university.
  4. The competition shall be online and it shall be in English only.

IV. REGISTRATION PROCESS:

  1. The Registration Fee for law students is 150 for an Individual Registration & 200 for a Team Registration.
  2. Mode of Payment: Registration Fees should be paid via Paytm @ 8351033361 or transfer in bank account (Account No: 918351033361, IFSC Code: PYTM0123456, Bank Name: PAYTM PAYMENTS BANK).
  3. The participants must submit the duly filled registration form via JotForm after paying the Registration Fee, attach the screenshot of Payment at the time of filling up the Registration Form (JotForm). An acknowledgement will be auto generated after filling up the Registration Form. You’ll also receive a copy of the dully filled up Registration Form on the provided email address (after filling the form check your email inbox including the Spam Folder & Other Folders). Please make sure that you must enter your details on the Registration Form carefully (participants are requested to enter correct name, phone number, email address and other information).

All essays must be sent as DOCX files through a Google Form. Essays submitted through any other mode other than Google Form shall be disqualified.

The title of the Soft Copy of the Essay must be in the following format: “Law Audience’s National Online Essay Writing Competition On Legal Issues 2019”.

Transfer or Pay the ‘Registration Fee’ carefully; Law Audience shall not be liable for any kind of mistake done by the participant at the time of transferring or paying the registration fee.

Registration fee is not refundable at any cost. It will be refundable only in a case the competition is called off by the organizing committee due to any unavoidable circumstances.

The competition can be called off by the organising committee at any time.

V. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  1. Word limit – Minimum 1500 words & Maximum 3500 words (Including foot notes).
  2. Format – MS-Word.
  3. Font – Times New Roman.
  4. Font size- 12 for text, 14 for Headings, 10 for footnotes.
  5. Page numbers – bottom center or right.
  6. Line Spacing- 1.5 for text and 1.0 for footnotes.
  7. Alignment- Justified and layout must be A4 size.
  8. Margin- One inch each side.
  9. The citation methodology to be followed is Harvard Bluebook (19th Edition).
  10. All the essays must be the original work of the Author(s) and must be plagiarism free (10% similarity is acceptable with proper footnotes & references) and must not be published anywhere else Or must not be selected for publication anywhere else.
  11. Don’t include your personal details (such as your name, phone number and email etc.) anywhere in the soft copy of the essay otherwise it’ll be rejected. A team code will be allotted and you have to mention that team code on the 1st page of the essay and start your essay from the 2nd page.

VI. SCHEDULE & OTHER DETAILS:

All details of the competition, including, Schedule or declaration of Results or any other material information shall be displayed and constantly updated, as and when required, on the Website located at https://www.lawaudience.com any update on the website shall be a communication deemed to be served upon all interested or it may also be communicated through emails (participants are requested to check their email inbox including the spam & other folders).

VII. DECISION:

Decision of the jury shall be final and binding and no excuse or objection regarding the same shall be entertained. Decision of the Organizing Committee shall be binding in interpretation of any rules or for any query or otherwise.

NOTE:

No individual mark sheet will be provided to the participants. A complete mark sheet of all the participants will be uploaded on the official website. No other document will be given or provided to the participants.

There will be no answer sheet. Jury members will read or examine your submitted essays and will give the marks accordingly.

IX. DISQUALIFICATIONS:

Notwithstanding any other rule, the following penalties may be levied on participants:

Disqualification on the following grounds:

  1. Non-Submission of the soft copy of the essay.
  2. Plagiarism
  3. Non-Compliance with the submission guidelines & rules of this competition.
  4. Non-Compliance with the Main Themes.

X. PRIZES:

  1. First Prize: Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs. 700 + Publication of the Essay in the Special Issue of Law Audience Journal (ISSN (ONLINE): 2581-6705).
  2. Second Prize: Certificate of Merit + Cash Prize of Rs. 300 + Publication of the Essay in the Special Issue of Law Audience Journal (ISSN (ONLINE): 2581-6705).
  3. Third Prize: Certificate of Merit + Publication of the Essay in the Special Issue of Law Audience Journal (ISSN (ONLINE): 2581-6705).
  4. Fourth Prize: Certificate of Merit + Publication of the Essay in the Special Issue of Law Audience Journal (ISSN (ONLINE): 2581-6705).
  5. Fifth Prize: Certificate of Merit + Publication of the Essay in the Special Issue of Law Audience Journal (ISSN (ONLINE): 2581-6705).

NOTE:

After selecting the above-mentioned 5 Prizes, i.e, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, the next top 5 essays will get a chance to be published in the LAW AUDIENCE’S BLOG but not in the LAW AUDIENCE JOURNAL and no CERTIFICATE OF MERIT will be provided to the winners of these next top 5 essays.

All the participants will get a soft copy of the CERTIFICATE OF PARTICIPATION. No hard copies of the CERTIFICATES will be provided to the participants and the winners.

All the ESSAYS selected for publication in the SPECIAL ISSUE of LAW AUDIENCE JOURNAL will have to sign a COPYRIGHT LICENSING AGREEMENT with the JOURNAL and all the ESSAYS selected for publication in the LAW AUDIENCE’S BLOG will have to sign an UNDERTAKING with the LAW AUDIENCE.

All the persons whose ESSAYS have been selected for publication in the SPECIAL ISSUE of LAW AUDIENCE JOURNAL and in the LAW AUDIENCE’S BLOG will also get a soft copy of the CERTIFICATE OF PUBLICATION (Mentioning and Recognizing that your essays have been published).

Law Audience reserves the right to remove any of the above-mentioned prizes (in case, if we do not receive any suitable essay. For instance, if we receive only 5 entries for this competition and 4 entries out of 5 entries have been disqualified due to any reason mentioned in the disqualifications section and only 1 entry out 5 entries is as per the rules & regulations of this competition then in that case only one prize will be given and other prizes will be removed automatically).

XII. OTHER TERMS & CONDITIONS:

  1. The Law Audience reserves the absolute rights to prepone, cancel and postpone the COMPETITION due to any reason as the case maybe.
  2. All the ESSAYS selected for publication in the SPECIAL ISSUE of LAW AUDIENCE JOURNAL and in the LAW AUDIENCE’S BLOG will be published within 45 days from date of DECLARATION OF THE RESULT.
  3. If you have any doubt in your mind regarding competition’s RULES & REGULATIONS then feel free to contact us before participating in this competition. After registering for this competition participants are bound to follow the RULES & REGULATIONS and no excuse regarding the same will be entertained.
  4. It is the duty of the participants to read this BROCHURE or OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION carefully.
