INTERIM BUDGET SESSION OF PARLIAMENT 2019 CONCLUDES

“Interim Budget Session of Parliament 2019 Concludes.”

The interim budget session of parliament 2019 has been a landmark session. As per Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines, this session saw a wide involvement of all the political parties.

Some highlights of the Interim Budget Session of Parliament 2019 are mentioned below:

a) The following 4 Bills have been passed by both the houses of Parliament.

  • The Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2019.
  • The Appropriation Bill, 2019.
  • The Finance Bill, 2019.
  • The Personal Laws (Amendment), Bill, 2019.

b) The productivity for Lok Sabha was recorded 85% (Total Numbers of sittings in the Lok Sabha: 331 and total bills passed in the Lok Sabha 205).

c) The interim budget session of parliament was commenced on 31st of Jan 2019 and has been adjourned on 13th of Feb 2019 (this interim budget session recorded 10 sittings during a period of 14 days and the productivity for the same of the Lok Sabha was 89% and 8% of Rajya Sabha).

d) The President of India addressed both the houses of Parliament and gathered together as per the provisions of Art. 87(1)[1] of the Indian Constitution.

e) During the continuance of this session 9 Bills in total were introduced, 3 bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha and 6 Bills were introduced in the Rajya Sabha.

f) 5 bills were passed in the Lok Sabha and 5 bills were passed in the Rajya Sabha and 4 bills were passed by both the houses of Parliament.  

[1] Art. 87. Special address by the President:

Art. 87(1) At the commencement of the first session after each general election to the House of the People and at the commencement of the first session of each year the President shall address both Houses of Parliament assembled together and inform Parliament of the causes of its summons.
