INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:

Question No. 1: Mr. Varun Kumar: How you would like to introduce yourself to our readers?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Myself Dr. Bhavana Sharma, J.R.F.-S.R.F., working as Principal, at HIMCAPES’ College of Law, Badhera, Haroli, Una, H.P.

Question No. 2: Mr. Varun Kumar: Why did you decide to choose law as a career?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Law as career has always fascinated me as law is an instrument to regulate, to understand the societal conditions (social as well as psychological). Law led us to have interactions with every aspect of life and forces us to always be updated and keep our mind fresh and agitated.

Question No. 3: Mr. Varun Kumar: Why did you choose teaching as a profession?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Teachers are known as makers of future and being law teacher is not only a responsibility but a great challenge also. Because when you are teacher in law, you have to not only motivate young minds but have to teach them in such a way that they should be able to understand law, its application w.r.t. (with regard to) ever-changing and ever-growing nature of societies.

Question No. 4: Mr. Varun Kumar: Being a Principal or Head of the law department how difficult is your job?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Being Principal, you are bridge between students and teachers, teachers and teachers, students and students and between management and students, management and teachers and this bridge have to be in sound conditions all the time. I can’t say that my job is difficult, but yes it is time-demanding and requires a lot of patience and I enjoy my role.

Question No. 5: Mr. Varun Kumar: How do you motivate your students?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Today’s generation is “G” generation, this generation is already smart and have over-exposure and are willing and ready to enhance their knowledge and experience. And only instrument to motivate them is love and affection, one has to be very polite and humble while dealing with students.

Question No. 6: Mr. Varun Kumar: Tell us something about your law school life. Any experience that you would like to quote or share with our readers?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: I am from that generation who has seen the transition from copy-pen to Nokia mobiles then from Nokia to Smart phones. In my days, discussions on different law-topics were quite important and we used to have long discussions on different law-topics. But today, students are more dependent on Google.

Question No. 7: Mr. Varun Kumar: What’s your point of view on paid publications? According to you how this issue of paid publications is affecting the legal education system?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: There should be total ban on paid publications. It is affecting legal education system because many sub-standard journals have cropped up.

Question No 8: Mr. Varun Kumar: You have secured a Ph.D degree in the field of law. So would you like to give any suggestions to those who are willing to pursue Ph.D?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: A good command on Research Methodology and deep knowledge of the topic to be selected.

Question No. 9: Mr. Varun Kumar: Please name any three or more qualities that you want to see in a law student.

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Patience, Hard-work and respect towards teachers and elders.

Question No. 10: Mr. Varun Kumar: Nowadays the issue of Plagiarism has been increased. So according to you how one can avoid this disease of Plagiarism?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Many measures have already been taken to control this issue. The important thing is to make law students, legal fraternity more aware about the pros and cons of plagiarism and how it should be avoided.

Question No. 11: Mr. Varun Kumar: You have secured numerous publications in various National and International Journals and you have also participated in various National Seminars and Conferences. So according to you how important it is for law students to secure publications and to take participation in Seminars and Conferences during their school life?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: It is quite important for students to participate in Seminars and Conferences because it help the students to gain knowledge of new topics and these seminars and conferences give platform to students where they can share and discuss their views and ideas. And same goes with the publications because to write a paper is not an easy job. One has to do proper research and has to be well informant about the topic.

Question No. 12: Mr. Varun Kumar: Would you like to give any advice to fresh law graduates?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: First of all, student should try to find out what his/her USP is, it means what is one’s interest whether he/she wants to go for practice in court, or in teaching or for judicial services and so on and then give your 100 percent and definitely the best will come out because sky is the limit.

Question No. 13: Mr. Varun Kumar: Do you think that politics is an essential part of education system and how do you tackle with this issue?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Yes, it is an essential part but the question arises how mature is one to handle this issue.

Question No. 14: Mr. Varun Kumar: What is your success mantra and what keeps you motivated in life?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Be positive always, patience, take what is important for your mental growth and ignore everything else.

Question No. 15: Mr. Varun Kumar: Do you want to highlight any issue that you find in today’s legal education system?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Lack of respect for Teachers and over-confidence of students are major concerns for me.

Question No. 16: Mr. Varun Kumar: Did you notice any development in today’s legal education system?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Yes, new methods of teachings, such as Seminars, conference, lecture through PPTs have been introduced. Moot court competitions, judgment writing competitions and such other activities in Law Colleges is indeed a great step towards the development of legal education.

Question No. 17: Mr. Varun Kumar: Would you like to give any mooting tips to law students?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Be confident but keep in mind that half-knowledge is always a dangerous thing, so study thoroughly and prepare yourself with full dedication.

Question No. 18: Mr. Varun Kumar: According to you how important it is for law students to do internships?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Law students must engage themselves in internships because internships not only enhance CV but also give a glimpse of in which way a law student can turn his/her career.

Question No. 19: Mr. Varun Kumar: Would you recommend to law students to pursue teaching as a profession?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Of course, being teacher I would, because it’s quite interesting profession which always brings new challenges and there is a lot of scope for learning and innovations also.

Question No. 20: Mr. Varun Kumar: Any career advice or special message that you would like to give to law students?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Hard-work, patience and faith in one’s capabilities are the key-mantras for success.

Question No. 21: Mr. Varun Kumar: Any quotation from your experience that you would like to share with our readers?

Answer Dr. Bhavana Sharma: Try everything and keep learning as a man is a student throughout his life.
