“Cabinet approves Introduction of Registration of Marriage of NRI Bill 2019.”
The Union Cabinet has approved the introduction of Registration of Marriage of NRI Bill 2019. The cabinet was headed by Shri. Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bill has been introduced in the Rajya Sabha as on 11th of Feb 2019. The main aim of this bill is provide protection against mistreatment of Indian Citizens, especially women by their NRIs husbands. Â
If the Bill gets passed by the Rajya Sabha then the Marriages solemnized by Non-Residential-Indians shall be registered in India and necessary changes will be made in the following Statutes namely,
a) Passports Act, 1967;
b) Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 by insertion of Section 86A.
